It started with a complaint. Winter in western Manitoba is long and can be brutal. Looking at our old, tired Main Street Christmas lights was just another depressing sight. Like many small towns, money is tight and must be spent wisely. The phrase “people, passion, participation” is a slogan adopted by
our town of Birtle, Manitoba (population 700…give or take). So with this in mind, a group of volunteers, some donated money and a small budget from the Town Council, we decided to make our own. We bent the steel for the star design, welded it together and then wired the lights and added the garland. We found the products we needed from Dekra-Lite and communicated quickly and easily with them online. Best of all the prices were affordable and the quality top-notch! Residents and visitors alike were amazed at the results. Our “stars” glittered during the day and glowed at night putting a smile on everyone’s face.
Thank-you to Dekra-Lite for naming us the winners of the $100 Visa Gift Card. We will be using the money to purchase more lights for our Town square Christmas tree.
